Take Your Time around my Blog, Have fun!
I became involved with folk Art after watching a group of Folk artists paint at a local community centre. Soon after, finding a group closer to home I began painting in 1996 with my local community college.
My next teacher was Lyla Kimble. Lyla became my mentor and friend; I spent the next few years with Lyla learning, never growing tired of the projects, loving the friendship and quality time together within the group. Along that time I also attended many workshops with a variety of teachers including; Lyla Kimble, Chris Roy, Ellen Valentine, Christine Whipper and Carol Swan.
In March 2000, after a serious illness, then finding that I has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I had to retire from my full time job in a local hospital. It would be more that 6 months before I could pick up a paintbrush again. Around the end of 2000, I began teaching a few friends who were interested in Folk Art. In 2008 I started a Friendship group at Fairfield Museum, in Smithfield, Sydney. Now retired I still enjoy attending workshops when I can, and encourage all students to try a workshop, they can be fun and the challenge is worth the experience, we have such talented workshop teachers available in Sydney.
